The nasty many-headed naga (serpent) named Kaliya threatened the denizens of Vraj, Krishna's beloved people. To punish the creature, Krishna danced playfully upon his many heads until the naga's wives begged for mercy. This famous pastime shows the love that Krishna has for the Vrajavasis and the love that they have for him.
