In this statue we see depicted Maha Vishnu lying upon His bed of snakes, Ananta Sesa. Laxmi, His eternal consort, sits at His feet giving him a massage. From his navel, a lotus flower sprouts, with Lord Brahma, the creator of the universe upon it. Around the base of the statue can be seen the waves of the causal ocean.
Ranganath means the resting aspect of Lord Vishnu, the form in which He listens to all of His devotee's woes and blesses them.
